In July, we held our 1st Wellness Event for staff at our partner organizations at Castle Island. It was great to bring everyone together for a morning focused on rest and community. “Our work demands so much of us emotionally, and stepping away into fresh air, with something as simple as a picnic, lawn games, and painting, gives us the chance to actually reset,” said event organizer, and MIC Legal Director, Stariska Abadi.

MIC Board President and Executive Director of Agencia ALPHA, Patricia Sobalvarro said, “It can be tough to step away from serving our clients when there are urgent needs to meet almost every day, but our picnic at Castle Island was the perfect reminder of how important it is to invest in the wellbeing of our employees- the heart of MIC partner organizations. Sharing laughs, competing in friendly outdoor games, and simply unwinding together was so needed. As leaders, we need to invest in resources to demonstrate to our staff how deeply valued and appreciated they are. I’m grateful to Frank DeVito, our Executive Director and the Steering Committee for prioritizing this day for us.”
