Dear Friends,

“Whoever saves a single life is considered by scripture to have saved the whole world.” This excerpt from the Jewish Talmud (Sanhedrin 37a) haunted me as I reflected upon the impact of ICE on our immigrant communities during the past year. As stories of the savage treatment of immigrants propagated in the media, I often wondered, where were we when this all happened? What did we actually do to support our sisters and brothers? When we looked into the eyes of our immigrant neighbor, did we see the suffering of the whole world?
