MIC’s Statement on Birthright Citizenship

Category: News

Reading Time: < 1 minute

We are relieved and grateful by today’s decision by the Supreme Court. For over 125 years, it has been settled that the Fourteenth Amendment grants citizenship to every person born on American soil. Today, the Supreme Court upheld that promise. This ruling protects children who have never known another home; children who were born here, grew up here, and are American in every sense of the word. It ensures that newborns can access Medicaid, basic health screenings, and the safety net every child deserves.

The Massachusetts Immigrant Collaborative celebrates this decision with the families in our communities. We will continue to defend the rights of immigrant children in our communities.
