Category: Events

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Last week the Massachusetts Immigrant Collaborative (M.I.C.), along with Pioneer Valley Workers Center, Metrowest Worker Center, and New North Citizens’ Council held its first ever Pioneer Valley Immigration Legal Services Conference in Springfield, MA. The event drew 135 people and featured workshops for community members and service providers, as well as free immigration legal consultations, assistance with MassHealth applications, and information on how to obtain a driver’s license.

We are grateful to M.I.C. partners Agencia ALPHA for providing legal consultations, MassHealth assistance (with support from Health Care For All) and leading workshops; Centro Comunitario de Trabajadores (CCT) and Metrowest Worker Center (Casa del Trabajador) for leading workshops; Brazilian Worker Center for photo documentation, and ICNA Relief.

We also thank community organizations ACLU of Massachusetts, Pioneer Valley Project, and Central West Justice Center for leading workshops. Community Legal Aid, the People’s Medicine Project, the Western Massachusetts Asylum Support Network, and Springfield No One Leaves for staffing tables and sharing information, and Pescando Justicia from New Bedford.

A big thank you to South Congregational Church for hosting us within their ‘Center for Community’, Mesa Buffet of Springfield for delicious Hispana-Spanish cuisine, and Fish Family Foundation for their generous financial support.
